Ask and note · checking a license
Check the person. Then check the pharmacy.
The person assessing your health is a clinician—a health professional. A pharmacy prepares or supplies the medicine. Ask for their names before comparing plans.
The myth
A polished website is enough proof.
The state record is the useful check
On September 26, 2026, Colorado’s free public license search included pharmacies and pharmacists, nurses, physician assistants, and doctors.
It is run by the Division of Professions and Occupations, within the Department of Regulatory Agencies. These names are often shortened to DPO and DORA.
A state record shows whether the license is current and any public record of penalties for poor professional conduct. A record without public penalties does not show how good the care is.

Get the exact names
Ask for the prescriber’s full name and license type, plus the pharmacy’s name. Keep the names in your notes.
Open the Colorado search
Use the state’s public license lookup and search by name. The state suggests starting with first and last name only for an individual.
Read the matching record
Match the name and type of health professional to the details you were given. Check whether the license is current and whether the licensing board has recorded any penalties against it. Contact Colorado’s Division of Professions and Occupations if you cannot understand or match the record.
Repeat for the pharmacy
Choose the pharmacy category and search its name. Before an out-of-state pharmacy sends prescription medicine into Colorado, it needs Colorado registration, as of September 26, 2026.
The myth
Everyone giving online care needs the same kind of Colorado license.
Ask about an out-of-state telehealth record
As of September 26, 2026, a qualifying health professional with an out-of-state license can apply for Colorado registration for online care only. Telehealth is a visit held while you and the clinician are in separate places.
Ask for the Colorado license or telehealth registration number that allows them to treat you. If you cannot understand the record, ask Colorado’s Division of Professions and Occupations to explain it.
Save the name and result with your visit notes.
